Event Details

In the run up to the Climate Change Conference in Cancun in December the Scottish Sustainable Development Forum and The Melting Pot offer a unique opportunity to hear about what Scottish charities and businesses are doing and how it can influence the discussions in Cancun.

What does sustainability mean for your organisation?

  •  Spotting the business opportunities
  •  Avoiding the ‘green wash'
  •  Motivating colleagues and persuading clients

Meet winners of the Scottish Green List and SSDF Chair, Evan Williams who will talk about the role of Scottish representatives going to the Climate Change Conference.  A unique opportunity to network with likeminded people.

Speakers:

Dr Rehema White, St Andrews University - Descending the Ivory Tower: a look at education for sustainable development

Rehema is co-ordinator of the innovative undergraduate interdisciplinary sustainable development degree programme at the University of St Andrews. She has developed the programme to be a world leading exemplar of sustainable development education. Approximately 50 students have graduated from the University and gone on to further studies in sustainable development or are currently transforming people's lives through their work. Each year the programme will produce graduates with the skills, knowledge and personal qualities to make a difference.

Dominic Marjoram, Vegware - Sustainability in business

Dominic co-founded Vegware, the UK’s first company producing and distributing compostable food-packaging. The products are all made from plants and can turn back to soil in 12 weeks after use. The range spans tableware, napkins, hot and cold cups and takeaway packaging. Many events do not have an alternative to disposable plates, cups etc. With Vegware it is possible to do disposable the green way.

Neil Copeland, Environmental and Resource Economics Ltd: What do the Cancun Climate Change Summit negotiations mean for Scotland?

Neil is a Presenter for The Climate Project UK; a non-profit organisation that consists of more than 3,000 diverse and dedicated volunteers worldwide, who have been personally trained by former US Vice President and Nobel Laureate Al Gore to educate the public and to raise awareness about climate change. He currently works as an associate of Environmental and Resource Economics Ltd.
